Welcome to this module where we explore our calling to be part of the people of God. This very much a reflective module, and so you will need to spend as much time reflecting as you do reading. The module will explore call and vocation from a biblical, historical, doctrinal, ecclesial and personal perspective. The sessions build session by session, focusing on a particular area of our call to be the people of God and within each of three main areas: history, doctrine and church.

A module like this one is, almost by definition, reflective, practical and anecdotal. For that reason this module is very thoughtful and reflective. There are lots of references, articles and clips referred to throughout the module which will, as a whole, offer a broad, and in-depth overview of the topic; but more importantly, we'll be listening to each other, our own reflections and God's calling as we reflect on God's mission to the world and our place within that.

The module is entirely self-directed so there are no study days. There is no assignment, instead we assess your learning from the emails you send to us at the end of each session giving us your thoughts on the 'Something Practical To Do' section.

Core Text

Richardson, C. (ed). This is our Calling, SPCK, 2004 (You will need to buy this book - it is available from Amazon at this link  https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=This+is+our+Calling%2C+SPCK%2C+2004&ref=nb_sb_noss)

If some short tips on how to study effectively would be helpful to you, there is a good, free, short on-line guide here. If you wanted something more in-depth there is an interesting book by John R Torrance called 'Accelerated Learning Unlocked' that can be found on Amazon, but both of these are entirely optional.
